The LGBT theatrre movement was brought up most notably when the LGBT were struggling with their acceptance in society around the 1950's. LGBT theatre was sprouted up through Off Broadway and was their way of being able to portray the struggles they go through a medium that could reach the masses. Not only this but it also allowed for the LGBT community to immerse themselves in the art of theater and explore their talents in order to show how the LGBT community is very gifted.

The uprising of their movement was not the easiest, and it took a lot of hard work to get play writers, producers, directors, etc. who were heterosexual to approve of this immersion as it may discredit their future pieces of work. Ultimately, today, the LGBT community is thriving in theatre, especially compared to the past. Some may even associate a lot of theatre in the modern day to be composed of artists in the LGBT community. Theatre is always a good way to portray serious issues in a less serious manner that can still catch the attention span and time of the majority of people which is why I believe that the LGBT introduction to theatre was a great movement in the sexual revolution.
